Lisa talks with a patient

The YWAM Health Clinic originated as a result of discussions with a pastor here in Bontoc, we recognized the need for regular glucose testing for individuals in Mountain Province.  While they can go to the hospital to have the testing performed, the cost for a single test is equivalent to 6-8 kilos of rice.  This, of course, is a difficult decision for so many of the people here.  As a result, many do not actively manage their diabetes.

The YWAM Health Clinic is held in cooperation with the Bontoc Municipal Health Office.  We hold the clinic weekly on Fridays from 8-9 am, although many extend beyond the 1 hour timeframe.  Members of YWAM Mountain Province staff provide free blood glucose and blood pressure testing. The ministry is funded by donations by people who have partnered with the work of YWAM Mountain Province.

Some of our patients come into the clinic knowing they have diabetes or hypertension.  Many find out for the first time that they may have health issues that need attention.  Many of our patients attend regularly to monitor their health.

This ministry allows us opportunities to share the love of Christ in a practical way as we help people learn to adopt healthy lifestyles.
